World Series

After 108 years of waiting, the Cubs won the 2016 World Series with a wild 8-7, 10-inning Game 7 victory over the Indians on Wednesday night at Progressive Field. The victory completed their climb back from a 3-1 Series deficit to claim their first championship since 1908. A roller coaster of emotions and a back and forth game that lasted almost five hours, featuring some crazy plays, a blown four run lead, a rain delay and some 10th inning heroics that sealed the deal.

Asked how he enjoyed the game and what he did to watch it, Senior Leo Rivera said “I couldn’t go to sleep until the game was over. I had to stay up and see how this would end. I was watching it with my friend from Chicago and we kept screaming at the tv.”

It was a perfect ending for a franchise that had waited forever for a championship. It was incredible, and it was amazing. After blowing an eighth inning lead in stunning fashion, the Cubs bounced back in the 10th with run scoring hits from Ben Zobrist and Miguel Montero.

Cubs left fielder Ben Zobrist was named most valuable player of the World Series on Wednesday after delivering the go-ahead run in the 10th inning of Chicago's deciding 8-7 victory over the Cleveland Indians.

Asked what he thought about the new MVP, Jose Wyatt, a junior said, “After that insane play in the 10th inning, I knew he was going to win it. That's what won the game. Best players make the best plays.”

A long awaited championship from some of the most loyal fans in sports history. Climbing back from a 3-1 deficit to claim the championship on the road is the definition of coming in clutch. Congratulations to your new MLB Champions, the Chicago Cubs.
