The winter air is near, which means winter sports are in full gear getting ready for their upcoming season. Our Hillgrove Hydro Hawks have been hard at work training for their first meet on November 4th, introducing new swimmers and plenty of freshmen such as Mollie Robertson, Ryan Jardin, Reagan Skedgell Thomas Kent, and many more.
“I really love getting to know all the new swimmers. It is extremely rewarding to share your experience on swim over the past four years with the young novices. They are all catching on so well and have the most spirit and talent of any freshman class I have ever had the privilege of swimming with,” states John Jardin, Senior and co-captain.
The swim team is a family due to their minute size and strong bonds. Often times they have a lot of team uniting activities. Casey Boland, Senior and co-captain, spills what the Hydro Hawks have been up to, “Our season is starting out strong: we’re having our meet very soon, and another next friday...We already hiked Kennesaw Mountain, and made tie-dye t-shirts, and we’ll probably have more events such as, a Stars N Strikes Lock In, and sleepovers” to keep up morale and team spirit.
The season for the Hydro Hawks has just begun and is slated to end in early February at the GHSA Swim and Dive State Meet.
“There are many meets in the season to qualify for state and county. It’s always been my goal to do my best my best races are breaststroke and the 500 freestyle,” describes junior swimmer and two time state qualifier Abigail Robertson.
The Hydro Hawks have great season ahead of them, so be sure to come out and support your HHS swim and dive team.
