This past Friday, October 28, we had our final home football game of the regular season. Our Hawks went head to head with the North Cobb Warriors. Our student section was decked out in green and white in support of student, Adyson Harrah. Allison Lindsey (12) reflects on how memorable it was for the theme to be centered around Adyson, “Adyson has been such an important person in the senior class and that is obvious by the amount of people that love him, but this year he has been our hero and unifying force. Seeing everyone wearing green shirts and green face paint and their Angels for Adyson bracelets was the most heartwarming thing. Yes, we might not all know each other’s name or stories, but when one of us is in trouble, everyone wants to do something to help. The message they read from Adyson was such a testament to who he is. The fact that he has been fighting for his life and still goes out of his way to tell everyone how thankful he is, shows how deserving it was for senior night to be about him.”
Unfortunately, our Hawks did not prevail and our team was defeated by North Cobb, 35-28. While it was a loss for our Hawks, the team still fought to the finish.
Mark Knowles (12) gave his thoughts on the team’s performance in Friday’s game, “We had a lot of people injured so I believe that was a big factor in why we lost. However, the game allowed for younger players to have the opportunity to play and allowed us to prepare for playing Mceachern next week.”
Along with the game, Friday night was also senior night. Senior night is when senior football players, cheerleaders, and marching band members are honored for their achievements throughout high school.
Sidney Tilton (12) discusses how it felt to be honored at senior night, “It was an honor to be recognized in front of my peers and I think it’s awesome that we have senior night. It’s crazy to think that four years ago, I was a freshman watching senior night, and now I’m a senior being recognized at senior night!”
Blake Hamil (12) describes his experience, “It was an exuberant experience. After all I’ve reveled through to arrive as a senior and to have this opportunity.”
