Prom Way Back

As prom gets closer and closer, the search for the perfect dress, a party bus to fit everyone, the group that includes anyone and everyone, and a way to pay for it all starts to unravel. Soon prom will be a distant memory and we will be able to relate to those that are now looking back at their fond memories of high school. To give us our weekly dose of nostalgia we asked around Hillgrove’s beloved teachers to see what he cool kids wore back in their day.

1987 - Liscio

Unable to locate a photograph, Liscio described that he wore a grey tux that included a tail, grey shoes, and a maroon cummerbund and bow tie to match his date. His date’s dress was an overwhelming “hoop skirt ball gown dress with ruffles” and included a matching corsage. Below is a picture of 1987’s prom which shows the fashions of the decade.

2001- Moore

In 2001, billboard-sized corsages and elaborate updos were all the rage. As shown in the picture below, Mrs. Moore wore a slim fitted floral gown that was matched by her date’s bow tie.

2010 - Montgomery

Not too long ago, Mrs. Montgomery went to Hillgrove’s 2010 prom and as seen in the photo below, wore a sparkled strapless purple gown, and her now-husband matched the silver accent in her dress with his bow tie, and her smaller-than-2001 corsage.

2007 - Voyles

A short 10 years ago, Coach Voyles wore a deep purple sparkly spaghetti strapped dress. Her corsage matched herself and her date’s boutonniere.

??- Mrs.Adams was Prom Queen back in her day! She went to prom both junior and senior year. She wore a floor length, navy blue, glittering gown with an elegant updo in this throwback picture.

??- Mrs.Williams was on Homecoming Court her senior year of high school. The ladies were required to wear business casual. She loved the experience but has no idea where her crown is these days...
