Dear Rising Seniors...

Dear Rising Seniors,

With the last week of school wrapped up for the seniors, it is time for the juniors to think about their senior year. Here’s some advice from us… Do not procrastinate on simple assignments. If a teacher assigns work, then just do it. You’re going to regret not completing assignments when you look at the gradebook at the end of semester and see a bunch of zeros. With big things such as senior project, write out your deadlines and plan out your time. Your senior year will feel so much more organized if you do not wait until the last minute to finish your work. When you have more time, you can use it to hang out with your friends who you may never see again.

On the same note, do not throw away your grades and take classes that will make your academic transcript look weak. Instead of taking your tenth P.E class of your high school career, why not take an academic elective or take an AP class in your favorite subject? It will look better if you challenge yourself in a class or two before you graduate.

Don’t skip out on the senior events because you think it’s not cool to go! School spirit is important, this going to be the last year to celebrate being a Hillgrove Hawk. Go to all the pep rallies and sports events, and make your senior year one to remember the good times of Hillgrove High. Representing Hillgrove means to represent your roots, and setting that example for underclassmen and getting them to support Hillgrove as well makes for a greater and more enjoyable environment. Venture out and go to games that you normally wouldn’t find yourself attending to support your fellow peers.

Finally, plan out your future after senior year. You should have an idea of what you’re doing after you graduate. Whether you are going to college, taking a gap year, getting a full time job, or going to the military, a plan should be set in place for your own piece of mind. Nobody wants to be applying for part time jobs for the rest of their life because they do not know what they want to do with their life.
