More Faculty Goodbyes...

As our faculty is diminishing, Coach Bernstein and Mrs. Phillips can be added to the list of those leaving Hillgrove for the 2017-2018 school year. Coach Bernstein is moving to Apalachee High School, near Athens to be the head coach of the basketball team there, and Mrs. Phillips, our speech pathologist is retiring.

Coach Bernstein has been here since the school opened, over 11 years ago. He is excited for a new beginning, but is sad to leave Hillgrove. He says, “I’m going to miss the people; the teachers I’ve worked with for over 11 years now, and the kids I teach and coach everyday.” He continues and says, “These kids are a part of my life, and I may not see them ever again, so it’s sad.”

He has been looking for head coaching jobs for years now, so he says that it was an offer he could not pass up. We will miss Coach Bernstein and his humor in the math classroom. It will be extremely difficult to replace such an animated, happy teacher, who loves what he does so much.

Mrs.Phillips is excited for retirement, but will also miss the people at Hillgrove. She says, “Hillgrove is a great place to work; the teachers and students are great.” She is excited to travel during her retirement, and has plans to go to Vietnam in June.

Coach Bernstein and Mrs. Phillips will be missed throughout Hillgrove. They are both such wonderful people in the classroom, basketball court, and in the media center. We wish them the best as they go on to pursue what they feel is best for them. You will be missed Coach Bernstein and Mrs. Phillips!
