Friday Night Lights

It is time for our Hillgrove Hawks to get pumped up for this years football season! Many students and teachers are preparing to show off their school spirit to the max and bring in some wins for our Hillgrove Hawks. The team has been working hard through nonstop conditioning and continuing their daily grind and according to a few players, this season will not disappoint. The team has improved from last year which Chigoziem Okonkwo speaks out about, “we lost some seniors but we brought back some players with a lot more experience and who are a lot better physically, mentally, and are much more mature.” Even though the loss of strong players from last years senior class, the team is recuperating by filling in the previous roles that people left and teaching them the game and to not get psyched out. Another player on the team, Cameron Kadoa, optimistically speaks about this season by saying, “It’s a slow start. We’re trying to get back on track and hopefully come back and win region games to get to playoffs and the state championship.”

The players are not the only ones who hold leading roles in our victories. The students and the spirit that they give off really helps players to boost their confidence. This season, we expect a lot of school spirit that should really support the team on game days because, “it definitely helps on game days, just hearing the crowd behind you cheering you on, gets you hype,” according to a Mark Pyryt.

Our first home game is today and the Hawks are all geared up to earn some wins. If you are looking to support the team, come to the games, invite friends to cheer on our fellow players, and dress with the themes for Fridays spirit days. Let’s go Hawks!
